Our Patented BIDA® System
Nature enhanced by science.
This is BioFiltro’s patented BIDA® System. In the system, organic liquid waste flows through a solid separator and an equalization tank and then is sprayed intermittently through an irrigation system above a bed of woodchip biomass, earthworms, and microbes. In this layer the earthworms and microbes combine to create an aerobic environment where they feed off the organic matter and nutrients in the water.
Gravity causes the water to descend through the system to the next layer of drainage cells that assist with the removal of nitrogen and provide an air chamber that helps keep the woodchip layer aerobic.
At the bottom of the BIDA System, what was organic liquid waste just four hours earlier is collected as clean water ready to be reused on site, removed at reduced cost, or stored in a lagoon without generating harmful greenhouse gasses like methane, N20, and CO2.
Zero Waste
At the end of our process, BioFiltro produces a valuable Vermiproduct that may be used on agricultural fields as a rich soil amendment creating zero waste.
Globally Tested
BioFiltro has been proven worldwide having designed and installed more than 200 wastewater treatment systems in nine countries, spanning four continents.
Accessibility and Sustainability
BioFiltro’s vermifiltration system can be installed anywhere and scaled to the specific needs of the operation.
Adaptability and Reliability
Our system is adaptable to seasonal and inconsistent discharge volumes and is resilient across varying climates and water conditions, using worms that naturally adapt to changes in temperature, pH, and salinity for optimal performance in any industry.
